Vulcan Shield Hungary Wraps Up CAMX 2026
Atlanta, GA. Vulcan Shield Hungary (VSH) has wrapped up three days at CAMX 2026, the Composites and Advanced Materials Expo, held September 22-24 at the Georgia World Congress Center.
What we brought to the show
Our team presented VSH’s alumina fiber range, from continuous fiber products like woven fabrics, tapes, braided sleeves, ropes, and sewing threads to bulk fiber and needled blankets. Our continuous fibers are built for extreme temperatures, perfect for CMCs in applications requiring high thermal insulation.
Most of our conversations centered on two continuous fiber grades developed for ceramic matrix composites (CMC):
- C-85 is an alumina-mullite fiber with 85% alumina content and continuous use at 1300°C. Its alpha-alumina and mullite crystal phase suits CMC applications that need resistance to thermal shock and creep.
- M-99 is a high-purity alpha-alumina fiber with 98% or higher alumina content. It has the highest single filament tensile strength (2.4 GPa) and modulus (330 GPa) in our range, which makes it a fit for oxide-oxide CMC.
It was good to see familiar faces from our existing customer base and to talk through their requirements in person. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth.
Moving quickly
VSH started mass production of alumina continuous fiber textiles in 2023. Since then, we have completed our Shanghai plant, started production at Guangxi, and opened our Hungarian plant in April 2026. Along the way we made a significant breakthrough in our 99% alumina fiber, M-99.
That is a lot of ground to cover in a few years, and we don’t plan to slow down.
What keeps us going
The speed comes from the demand we see. Customers in various demanding industries like energy, consumer electronics and industrial manufacturing keep asking more of their materials: higher temperatures, lower weight, longer service life. Every time those requirements move, ours move with them. That push for better materials is what motivates us to keep innovating, whether that means new fibers, better processes, or more production capacity closer to the people who use them.
